Be Superior

So, we decided to make a trip up to the North Shore with absolutely no plans. I love trips like these because you really have to go with the flow. We took off from Minneapolis with our first stop being Duluth, MN. We stopped, grabbed a bite to eat, and continued on the road. With Grand Marias being our destination, we realized that we probably wouldn't make it there until 2am, SO we decided to find a spot to camp out for the night. Silver Bay was the final spot we chose. With the dark light that fell over us, we were not able to see anything. However, waking up that morning we clearly chose the right spot -- Silver Bay Scenic Overview. Opening the trunk of the car was like waking up to a scenic northern heaven. We were overlooking the beautiful Lake Superior. After spending some time soaking it in, we headed toward Split Rock Lighthouse, which was probably my favorite part. Walking down to the shoreline was absolutely gorgeous! It showed the Lighthouse in the most beautiful way and I can still feel the fresh breeze coming off of the lake. I can't believe I had yet to be up this far on Superior, WHICH, random fact - if you were to pull the plug on this lake, it would cover Canada, The U.S., Central America, and South America, with one whole foot of water. HOW INSANE?! Anyways, we finished our tour at Split rock and left for Grand Marais. This little town was SO cute. We stopped, grabbed a bite to eat and watched the sunset all while enjoying a bottle of wine (yes... an entire bottle. Oops). On Sunday morning we drove back down the coast and checked out Gooseberry falls. This was another one of my favorite scenes. So. Beautiful. If you ever get the chance to take a trip here, take it. I thank God every day for hand crafting these landscapes for us to enjoy.

"In His hands are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land." - Psalm 95:4-5

Unfortunately the weekend had to come to an end, but we definitely packed a big trip into a short amount of time.
